New Vision Quartet Signs Management & Publicity Agreement with EHA-Nashville
The New Vision Quartet of Huntsville, AL is a regional Southern Gospel quartet taking their music ministry into a national market. With the group’s upcoming new release, owners, James Hillis and Ken Woods, felt recruitment of Nashville publicist, Evie Hawkins, to publicize and manage the group, would be an asset in reaching a wider audience. Hillis, Lead singer, experienced a life-threatening brain surgery, 14 years ago, and asked the Lord’s direction into the ministry. The outcome: The New Vision Quartet. Ken Woods, Tenor, moved to Huntsville in 1990, and is an Internet Developer. Woods felt the call to the music ministry, as well, which lead to the partnership with Hillis. Rusty Gipson, Bass, has served as an active deacon for several years and was formerly with Calvary Road Quartet. Robert Woody lives in Big Cove, Alabama and serves as Road Manager for the group. The group is currently looking to fill the baritone position. New Vision has been popular and well-loved throughout the state and surrounding areas. Chuck Day
Chuck Day
Chuck Day’s success in several Christian music genres did not happen overnight. This Hoschton, GA native, started out on a firm foundation built and maintained by a God-fearing mother, and the collaboration of his multi-talented family. At age 12, Day’s mind-set was on his first recording project, and his heart and feet were set on a path that would take his music ministry into a world-wide arena. By the time he was 18, The Day Family had recorded 4 albums at the renowned Happy Goodman Studios. Traveling with several popular Southern Gospel groups and later with Country greats, Freddy Fender and Marty Haggard, proved to be instrumental in forming Day’s unique and engaging style.
One of Day’s most notable songwriting achievements is Midnight Cry that he co-wrote with his well-known, songwriting brother, Greg, in 1986. The song is noted to be one of the most recorded and popular tunes in Christian music history. Songs Day has written himself or co-written, have resulted in 9 number 1’s in the Christian genre. Artists that have recorded his material include Gold City, Clay Cross, Michael English, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, The Hoppers, Rebecca St. James, and many more. Awards too numerous to name are stacked in Day’s favor, and a brief list includes 2 RIAA Certified Gold Video Awards for 2 of the Bill Gaither Homecoming Videos, ICGMA (International Country Gospel Music Association) — Male Vocalist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Songwriter of the Decade, Induction into the ICGMA Hall of Fame in 2000, and honored as a Kentucky Colonel in 2000 by Governor Paul Patton.
To read more of Chuck Day’s amazing journey in Southern Gospel music, Christian Country, and Praise & Worship, visit SGN Scoops website. Evie Hawkin’s story on Chuck will be published in the November 2009 issue. EHA is proud to be a part of the Coastal Media Group as a writer for Scoops and SGM Radio.
The versatility of Chuck Day’s music ministry has touched lives and hearts for over 21 years and reached souls in many foreign lands…His music ministry has left the city, traveled far beyond U.S. borders, and throughout the wide open range into countries many skeptics would hesitate to even visit. Dr. Chuck Day’s story will touch the hearts of readers and inspire us all to look back and remember our God-given gifts, rekinkling a fire, that hopefully will motivate us to reach our fullest potential…Evie Hawkins

Dempsey Howard…Southern Gospel Stage

Dempsey Howard has been a member of some of the best known Southern Gospel groups and continues to carry his message to the world with his videos that he shares on his Southern Gospel Stage website. Dempsey has been a source of inspiration and encouragement to me in building my publicity business in Nashville. I am so proud to call Dempsey Howard my friend, and hope you will read his bio and check out his website for the finest in Southern Gospel Music!
Happy reading, Evie Hawkins
Dempsey is the son of an evangelist/pastor in Eastern North Carolina. Literally growing up under the pews of his father’s churches, his life has been centered in and around the church.
His teen years found him on the road with various local singing groups in North Carolina. At the end of his senior year in High School, he left for Nashville, TN to join his brother in ministry as they traveled the continental United States and Canada. While with the Bobby Howard Singers, they were doing concerts, crusades, and were regulars on nationally known religious television networks. He has worked with various other groups in the Southern Gospel music field, many of which were Dove Award, and Gold record winners.
A short hiatus from the “religious” scene opened his eyes to things surrounding him, and while walking into a small local church in Nashville one night, the pastor recognized him as one with a call on his life. He began to sing again and offer ministry in the church and to the youth.
Dempsey has said, “There has been a great learning process and greater commitment process to go through.” An event transpired in his life in late 1996 that almost ended his ministry and his life. Today, however, he stands proud to be fulfilling the call and doing what God has set him aside to do. After 4 years of not singing, it was in 2000 he cut a track with a friend in a small home studio and he had his first nationally recognized single in Gary S. Paxton’s Restored, which climbed to #1 in many markets on Independent charts.
Dempsey Howard has sang with the following great artists and groups:
The Bobby Howard Singers, Jerry & The Singing Goffs,The Southmen Quartet, The Sego Brothers and Naomi, The Telestials, The Encouragers, The Skyliners, and The Countrymen.
Other works to his credit: Producer of “The Talking Bible” for World Bible Society in Nashville, TN. This nationally acclaimed Bible on Cassette was sold in major book stores across the country and TBS / Atlanta GA.
He has written several books, A View From The Inside,Gethsemane, Beyond the Prayers of Jesus, Membership to The Elite, and authored the Family and Life Enhancement Series Seminars that he conducts in churches and auditoriums across America.
Appeared at:
Grand Ole Opry House / Nashville TN, PTL / Charlotte NC, World’s Largest All Night Sing / Waycross Ga, Seminole Fairgrounds / Seminole, OK, Crossroads Cathedral / St Johns, NB Canada
“From the concert halls, to the stadiums, or the church the message never changes!”
Dempsey Howard is still spreading the Good News in his testimony and song. Be watching for news on this website about what Dempsey is up to! We can’t wait to see where his journey leads and the blessings we receive in keepin up with his music ministry!

Getting Out There
From TJ Green:
Ok, As I get ready for a two-day fall break and senior skip day this coming week, I just wanted to reflect on the last three weeks…
Less than two weeks ago, Catoosa County Schools banned signs with Bible verses on them, to be shown by students at (school functions) mainly, football games. I don’t think that the reason the students are fighting the ban are because of the signs, but for our faith, freedom of speech and religion.
Last Wednesday my youth group went to a church service that was in support of the students that have stood up for their faith and for their right’s. There were people from many of the local high schools, a student that does not even go to LFO, that spoke that night said “IT’S NOT YOUR SCHOOL, MY SCHOOL. IT’S MY GOD, YOUR GOD”.
I think that it’s about time for us as Christians to “Get Out There” and tell them what the LORD has done. As I was deciding on a song to sing tonight at church, my phone started to play Chris Hester’s song “Get Out There”, so I pulled the song up on iTunes and played the song and listened to the message.
The song says…“So get out there and tell them of the power of GOD , and HIS mighty word can do. Get out there and tell them of HIS healing power, and how he rescued you. Don’t wait till the next time, because the next time may never come.”
I was on the road with Johnathan & Ginger (Young Harmony), and saw first hand the meaning of that song, and that all you have to do is trust the LORD and just “GET OUT THERE” and share to others what the lord has done for you. I guess what I’m trying to say is that sometimes we don’t show our faith at school and around our friends because we are afraid of what people think. The way I think about it is, that you can show your faith like the students who made the signs and get out there or sit back and do nothing. I choose to get out there, what about you?
